To write to God is to quietly return thanks to the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Not with eloquence—but with reverence. Not for recognition—but for relationship.
When we put pen to paper and direct our gratitude heavenward, we are not simply journaling. We are creating a sacred rhythm of worship that transforms ordinary words into eternal offerings.
Writing to God: More Than Journaling
Many people keep journals for self-expression, memory-keeping, or emotional release. But writing to God is different.
It is not about finding the right words.
It is not about impressing others.
It is about acknowledging the One who already sees and knows.
To write to God is to pause and whisper on paper: “God, I saw Your hand today.”
In the little mercies. In the quiet moments. In the strength to begin again.
It is worship written in ink—an offering that rises to heaven even when no one else is watching.
The Power of Thanksgiving in Writing
Scripture declares in Psalm 50:23:
“He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me.”
Every written “thank You, Lord” becomes a holy act of surrender. Every entry becomes an altar where gratitude is laid before the throne.
What if your pen became your altar? What if your gratitude became your daily incense before God?
That is the heart of the #WriteToGod —a call for believers everywhere to turn journaling into worship and thanksgiving into a lifestyle.
How to Begin Writing to God
You don’t need to be a writer to begin. You don’t even need perfect words. You only need a willing heart.
Here’s how to start:
Find a quiet moment. Just 5–10 minutes a day.
Take a notebook. No fancy tools required.
Begin with His Name. Start with: “Dear God…”
Write 3–5 things you’re thankful for. Big or small, ordinary or extraordinary.
End with surrender. Offer Him your trust, your praise, your worship.
That’s it. Simple. Sacred. Life-changing.
Why It Matters
Writing to God may seem like a small practice, but it carries eternal weight.
It refocuses your eyes on His faithfulness.
It transforms daily moments into worship.
It strengthens faith during trials.
It leaves behind a written testimony of His goodness.
Even if no one else ever reads your words, God does. And heaven records every offering of thanksgiving.
#WriteToGod
Write because He is worthy.
Write because He has been faithful.
Write because unseen worship is never wasted in heaven.
Let every thank You be your offering. Let every page point upward. Let gratitude rise from every nation, language, and season of life.
If this speaks to you, Pick up your pen. Write to God. For the One who listens—even when no one else is reading.
Dr. Milanya Soltero Osngao, a.k.a Milanya Writer, is a dentist and a gratitude writer.
During her clinical years in college, she first began experiencing dreams, some of which later unfolded in her real life. These experiences have shaped her faith journey and guided her, especially in making bold decisions in her life. At times, she would question the Lord, asking why such dreams came to her, often during seasons when she felt helpless. As she matured in her faith, she came to understand that God can use dreams and visions to guide, help, and protect His people. These sacred encounters made her aware that God still speaks through dreams and visions, just as His Word declares in Acts 2:17:
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”
A SEASON OF BREAKING AND REDIRECTION
At the beginning of 2024, Milanya prepared for what she believed would be a breakthrough in her professional life. To prepare, she invested heavily—financially and academically—believing she was paving the way for success in her professional career. But instead of the breakthrough that she expected, she then found herself walking through trial after trial.
In her brokenness, she sought solitude, and in that sacred silence, kneeling before God, she asked Him to bring her through. What she did not realize at that time was that God was not breaking her down but redirecting and aligning her.
During this period, she found comfort and guidance through the messages of a globally known spiritual mentor she often listened to during difficult times. One message in particular stood out: the importance of writing down five things to be grateful for every day. Inspired, however, Milanya began addressing her gratitude directly to God instead of simply writing it down. She literally turned them into gratitude letters to God. Even in her breaking, she faithfully wrote five things she was thankful for each day.
In those long months of solitude—writing to Him—God was already healing her and shaping her heart, though she did not recognize it at first.
Months later, she realized she was no longer attached to the plans she once clung to. For someone who is a naturally shy person and stays away from social media, and her only main focus was on thriving in her career as a dental professional, unexpectedly, her path has been redirected. God led her onto a path outside her comfort zone - something she had never planned or imagined. This was the birth of her online presence.
A MESSAGE
Milanya’s personal rock is verse 1 Thessalonians 5:18:
“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
For her, thanksgiving is not only for the mountaintops but also for the valleys. Through it all, she has learned that what we often see as breaking is God’s molding to align us with His plan.
To God belongs our daily thanksgiving.
